Turmeric and Cinnamon

Fun Fact! : Did you know red text on High Street Mania means it’s a clickable link?

Ever considered raiding the kitchen cupboard for beauty products? No? I know… No one thinks about that but trust me you need to sometimes. I’m always fascinated to learn about new spices, leaves or general foods that can be used as part of a skin care regime. You’ll know this is true if you go through my blog as I’ve spoken about using green tea, lemon, honey and a lot more to make face masks.

If you do a little research into some of the most common ingredients we use everyday, you’ll realise how great they are not just for nourishing your body internally but also your skin. Today’s post focuses on two spices that are very common and easily accessible – Turmeric and Cinnamon. Now I’m no skin or herb expert and so I’ll only tell you what I know from personal experience.

Turmeric and Cinnamon both have antiseptic properties. Anyone who has struggled with acne or pimples will know that is an essential property any product needs to fight off acne. It is said that Turmeric is especially good for reducing the appearance of pimples and Cinnamon for drying out acne and de-clogging your pores. However, Turmeric is more gentle on your skin and can be used more often than Cinnamon. It is recommended that Cinnamon shouldn’t be used more than once a week as it can cause skin irritation.

So how do I practically uses these two spices? Easy! As with any other ingredient I usually use, I mix them with honey to form a paste and then apply it to my skin. I always use honey as my base ingredient because it’s very moisturising and also has antiseptic properties (You get my point – Antiseptic… VERY important lol).

I leave the mask on for 5 – 10 minutes and wash it off with some warm water and I’m good to go! Refreshed, Clean and with skin that’s ready to Glow!

Have you ever tried any of these spices on your skin? Have any other ones to recommend? Let me know in the comment section below!

Trust me, you’ll be amazed how many things you can use on your face, garlic, onions, bananas… there’re so many of them out there that we take for granted lol

  2. Yes it is but I agree with you though on there being a slight difference with cinnamon. However, I’m not sure about using it everyday as they say it could do more damage than good if used everyday… Maybe increase it to twice a week at most and see what happens hun!

    Thanks for stopping by

  3. Just like you ,i’m a big fan of bio mask/made home…And my new post was actually dedicated to the chilli mask that i tried out(made with chili, lemon, milk, cinnamon and honey)and it was a real mess,my skin got irritated and totally red..So i will never try again this mask, but however i think that this is a good face mask for people who don’t have a highly reactive and delicate skin like me…
I will recommend you to try out the “Mocha Mask” made with cocoa-powder, honey, yogurt and coffee, for a brighten and hydrated skin …
Ps:Don’t forget to also check out my blog…
